2015 CINEMALAYA CAMPUS : Broadening Horizons

Cinemalaya Campus Plug - Copy

THEME:                     Paano Manood ng Pelikula? (How to Watch a Film?)

DESCRIPTION:        The Art of Reading Film and Writing Film Critiques by Clodualdo Del Mundo Jr., PhD

The Film Forum in Cinemalaya 2015 will address two basic questions that should be of interest to film students:

  • How does one read a film?
  • What are some basic approaches to writing film critiques?

Each session of the forum will consist of a screening of a short film from the Cinemalaya collection, a discussion of the featured film by peer reviewers, and a critique by a film academician, scholar, or writer.  The critique will exemplify a particular approach in film criticism.

To prepare the peer reviewers, a pre-forum session will be scheduled that will focus on the elements that can aid in reading a film.  This pre-forum session will also result in a short list of peer reviewers.  These peer reviewers will participate in the discussion of a specific film during each session in the forum.

An added feature of the Film Forum is the session on NETPAC (Network for the Promotion of Asian Cinemas) which will focus on the organization and its process of defining Asian cinema.

Guest Speakers: Mr. Mario Hernando, Mr. Patrick Campos, Ms. Anne Frances Sangil, Dr. Ronald Baytan, Dr. Miguel Rapatan and Jose Javier Reyes.
