In the year 2003, the group was established by the King of Mass Choreography and well-known Artistic Director in the field of theater arts, MR. BASILIDAS VILLEGAS PILAPIL, JR. who brought honor and pride to Surigao del Norte National High School following numerous & excellent performances of the group in local, regional and national stages and international events. To name a few, Wow Caraga Cultural Roadshow all over the region, Wow Mindanao Exposition in Davao City and Wow Philippines in Intramuros, Manila. In 2014, Mr. Pilapil gave Mr. Jayson B. Como (batch 2005 member of HSDT & affiliate member of Sining Kambayoka Ensemble) an authority to orchestrate Hingas Surigao Dance Theater and continue his legacy in theater arts as a community-based dance company since he was working already in the United States. Mr. Como gladly took over the opportunity without any reluctance to help develop young ones who aspire to be in the particular walk of life. Greater opportunity opened and came across last 2017, when Mr. Como became part of the family of Surigao del Norte National High School as teacher and designated as one of the trainers of the Special Program in the Arts - Dance Discipline. After more than a decade, Hingas Surigao Dance Theater is euphorically back at Surigao del Norte National High School.In just a matter of 3 years, the group had joined and won competitions and garnered overwhelming infinite performances in various local, regional, and national events.
