Oro Teatro Bulawanon

Advocacy Plays | Theater-Community Based

Oro Teatro Bulawanon started with a different name. Our first production was The Vagina Monologues in 2013. After that first time, we staged TVM yearly until 2019. In 2016, we staged our first local production, Reyna Elena, a Palanca-winning 3-act play by Chic Fortich. That was also when we changed our name to Oro Teatro Bulawanon. Since then, we've been focused on local talents and materials. We co-produced Lima: HIV Monologues, an HIV and AIDS awareness show that features five original stories shared by Kagay-anons. We've also performed at Kampo Juan in Manolo Fortich, Bukidnon. We staged an original play called "Ang Paglaya". Earlier this year, we produced Stories From the Heart, a virtual production that featured excerpts from original monologues by the group's members. OTB's goals are to help spread awareness about the importance of theater and the arts, serve as a training ground and home of local artists, develop and promote local talents (especially the younger ones - our members are mostly college students who joined us when they were in senior high school), and work with advocacy partners in using theater to reach out to audiences. Our next projects are a Binisaya version of Reyna Elena (the play we staged in 2016) and an original Binisaya musical.
