Puppet Theater

A theater group that presents plays with actors and puppets based on Philippine and Asian folktales, Teatro Mulat was founded by Professor Amelia Lapeña-Bonifacio in 1977. “Mulat” means to open, to awaken, hence a theater to awaken the children to the beauty and richness of Philippine culture and the still unfamiliar Asian cultures. Productions include puppet plays such as PapetPasyon (“The Passion of Christ in Puppetry” presented annually during the season of Lent; premiered in 1985), DalawangBayani, Sita & Rama: Papet Ramayana.
